Transition to Work
If you are aged 5-21 and motivated to get into the WORKFORCE but don’t know where to start, then start with Stirling Skills Training.
WHO’S IT FOR?
This service is designed to help people who are early school leavers or people who’ve had difficulty getting a job after leaving school.
To participate you must be aged 15 – 21 and one of the following:
- an Australian citizen, or the holder of:
- – a permanent visa, or
- – New Zealand Special Category Visa, or
- – Nominated Visa (including Temporary Protection Visa Safe Haven Visa).
There are some other factors which need to be considered, such as whether you’ve been employed in the last six months or are currently receiving an income support payment such as Youth Allowance.

WHY WOULD I DO IT?
The Transition to Work (TtW) service is about helping you gain employment. It provides you with the skills, training and support to transition into a job.
Personalised service When you start the services, you’ll be assigned a specialist support officer who will develop a Transition to Work Plan designed specifically to help you select career appropriate training and secure a job.
Once you secure a job, we will continue to provide mentoring and assist you with your day to day work.
Support close to you
We have a number of metropolitan sites (Career HUBS) both north and south of the river as well as services in Northbridge and Kalgoorlie. You can drop in any time to take advantage of our job search facilities, find out more about career or training opportunities or simply catch-up with your specialist support officer about your options.
Life + Skill + Opportunities (L+S+O)
As a TtW participant you will complete the L+S+O program, a blend of job search activities combined with training, employment referrals and practical work experience. There are a range of accredited and non-accredited training options available that can be delivered face to face or online.

Stirling Skills Training have connections with numerous employers in your area. As a participant, your specialist support officer will work with you to make the introductions you need and prepare you for an interview.

At Stirling Skills Training we understand not everyone can access the Career HUBS, so we provide a range of options to help you link with resources and services.
We are also committed to providing culturally appropriate services for indigenous youth and those from non-English speaking backgrounds.
HOW DOES IT WORK
STEP 1: Get Started
Work together with your specialist support officer to develop your Transition
to Work Plan. You will explore the kind of work you will be successful and interested in doing. You will then map out and plan any training, work experience or job searching support you will require to help you take the next step.
STEP2: Take the next step
When you’re ready to take up your education or employment goals we’ll help you secure the right opportunity and provide mentoring so you receive continued support.
When you successfully secure work, we’ll continue to provide you with ongoing support. Your specialist support officer will meet with you regularly to make sure you are happy and succeeding in your role.
If you’re unable to secure work, we will work with you for up to 12 months helping you to seek employment and/or training. You will be required to keep a record of your activities which can be done easily via the Stirling Skills Training TtW app on your mobile phone.
